Travel Planning and Tourist Information
General Information:
Formed in 1776 with original 13 states and now expanded to 50 states and some territories.
US is about half the size of Russia; about three-tenths the size of Africa;
about half the size of South America (or slightly larger than Brazil);
slightly larger than China; almost two and a half times the size of the European Union.
With a developed travel industry and tourism infrastructure, surprisingly US has no central tourism office.
Each state is responsible for its own tourist information.

Money, Costs:
Atleast $50 per day is needed for hotel and food. $100 should be OK in most places.
Tipping is 15% and most major credit cards are accepted.

Getting Around:
Most tourist use rental cars with-in the city and access thru flights to the destinations.

US National Parks, Monuments, Protected Areas, Forests - OFFICIAL TOURIST INFORMATION
US has great amount of land reserved in form of National Parks, Forest and Monuments.
Most of them are accessible thru flight and with a self-drive rental car.
Each park often has a newsletter, a non-profit organization and lots of activitites surrounding it.
Most popular areactivites are car drive tours, sight seeing, hiking on the trails, camping etc.
The best way to see the national parks is to buy the annual National Park Pass.
This pass is around $50 and it is for a family and it is valid for a year.
This pass is discounted for studetns, and seniors and some for variants are also available.

Tip: While visting, first see the Park Ranger or volunteer from the Park Information Center.
Talk to them to revalidate or get most recent local travel information.
Plan your tourist/vacation activities based on the above information.
There are ample ranger/volunteer assisted activities which are often the best way to go.
Use the printed park brochure, and trail/newsletter information that are available only on the location.
